Calendula Tincture

(Calendula officinalis)

1oz (30mL) Tincture. Organically grown flowers infused in Maine distilled Certified Organic grain alcohol.

Suggested amount: 10-20 drops in 1oz water 2-3 times/ day. Shake well before use. Sediment is natural.

We tend our Calendula from early spring sowing to the first hard frost in the fall. As the soil begins to warm, we sow our saved seed in the garden. Protected from the coldest nights under row cover, the rounded softly-green leaves begin to emerge. As summer approaches, the first buds reach up and open their petals. Calendula blooms generously and we gently gather the young flowers throughout the season. A joyful dappling of sunshine in the garden, Calendula is a delight to grow and create with.

When to reach for Calendula: 

Calendula is considered a gentle remedy for lymphatic swelling and pain. Areas of congestion and swelling can occur in acute infections as well as heightened immune response to dietary intake or habits. Calendula has alterative characteristics which make it a specific remedy for supporting the body's pathways of filtration and elimination.*

Calendula also acts both topically and internally as a vulnerary, or wound healer. (For topical applications of Calendula, please see our Soothe and Repair Salve.) Internal use of Calendula can help lower inflammation, manage bacterial growth and infection, as well as knit cell structure back together more efficiently within our digestive system.*

By supporting the blood and lymphatics, Calendula can help to lessen swelling, bloating, discomfort, and inflammation associated with a food allergy or intolerance, as well as following the use of antibiotic treatment. Calendula also gently stimulates digestion and the liver through its warming and bitter qualities. This further helps support the body as it removes toxins and waste material from the cells and tissues.*
